Childcare and Babysitting Safety

Are you a babysitter or do you want to start babysitting? The Child and Babysitting Safetyclass provides young people who intend to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. The class stresses the priority to keep babysitters and the children they care for safe. Babysitting is not just "watching" the children, but being responsible for their safety and well being. When caring for a child, babysitters are taking care of a parent's most prized possession.

This class will help students learn leadership skills, develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, help children behave and learn about basic child care. It is recommended for children from 11 to 15 years old. It is geared towards adolescents, and not intended for daycare workers.

   • Bedtime
   • What is an emergency?
   • First Aid
   • Infant/Child Choking

Tuition includes a certification card to show parents that you are a trained and certified babysitter and a book to review everything you will learn in the class.

The length of this course is approximately 5-1/2 to 6 hours of class time, with a midday lunch break at noon. Please bring a lunch to class. Please note that this is NOT a CPR class. Students also desiring CPR training and certification are advised to attend one of our CPR training classes.

Southwest CPR reserves the right to cancel any scheduled training class with 48 hours notification. Students enrolled in a class canceled by Southwest CPR may, at their option, either enroll into another class or receive a full refund.

Once an individual has enrolled in an open training class, they may, one time only and with a minimum of eight hours notification, reschedule into another open class of the same type. Individuals canceling or rescheduling a second time, or attempting to cancel within 8 hours of the scheduled class start time, will forfeit their tuition, but will be eligible to receive a 25% discount for another class that is scheduled within 60 days of the original class date.
